Fixed Teeth Replacement

When there is one or more missing teeth in the mouth, the gap can be restored by a dental bridge created from porcelain. Bridges stabilizes the bite of the patient and prevents the surrounding teeth from moving or shifting in the mouth. Having a bridge is like having three crowns. The teeth on either side of the missing tooth are prepared for crowns, an impression is made, and the case is sent to a dental laboratory. The laboratory then makes the crowns and fastens a false tooth between the two crowns - this is a bridge.

The advantages of a bridge are that it is fixed, stable, and feels like your own teeth. In most cases it can be made to look just like you never had a tooth missing. A bridge is a permanent restoration. Bridges can be used to replace a small number of missing teeth if the neighbouring teeth are sufficiently strong. There are a few important factors that need to be assessed before making a bridge. The number of missing teeth, condition of the neighbouring teeth, condition of supporting gums and the bone.
